Dr. Benson is a Leader in Global Health, Medical Education, Program design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation. She coordinated Healthcare services in several African Countries (Liberia, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Ethiopia, Lesotho and Republic of Congo) as a team leader and visionary at WHO/AFRO. She completed her medical training from the University of Liberia, did Child Health at the National University of Ireland and International Public Health at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1990. Dr. Benson has vast experience in the Health sector Policy, Planning and Management including system strengthening in AIDS, TB & Malaria having worked in the Public, Private and Multilateral Organizations at UNICEF and WHO.
Dr. Benson co-founded the Global Health Innovations and Action Foundation providing Technical support in NCDs across Sub-Saharan Africa through the Ministries of health and strengthening the Health System toward attainment of the SDG 3. She also cofounded the Benson Hospital with her husband and the 60 bed hospital provides quality healthcare services to women, children, young people and men on Liberia endemic diseases. The Hospital takes care of about 13,000 patients / year with emphasis on Malaria, Acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, and maternal child health. I am the past President of the Rotary Club of Sinkor as well as past Foundation Chair and past President of the Liberia Rotary Malaria Committee.
