A Rotarian since 1988. Ted served District 7410 as District Governor 2009-2010 as well as District Rotary Foundation Chair. Ted is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute. He was also recognized as “Rotarian of the Year” in 2003-2004. Ted serves as the country contact to Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador for the ESSEX Multi-District Youth Exchange program. He also served as a member of the Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisors.
On the international front, Ted has been very active for many years with many projects in Central and South America. While most of his service has been in Venezuela and Colombia, he has also worked with clubs and districts in Honduras, Ecuador, Mexico, and Guatemala.
As a result of relationships established, Ted was instrumental in securing Matching Grants the newer Global Grants as well as cash and in-kind services has greatly improved the overall “Quality of Life” as well as disease prevention. The projects include but not limited to the development of surgical rooms in Venezuela that have allowed many general and specialty services such as women with difficult pregnancies, Cleft Lip and Pallet surgery’s, maternal health, HIV- Aids, adolescent pregnancies, sexually transmitted disease education. Most recently supporting the establishment of a new ICU in Cali, Colombia. For the last two and one-half years most of his time being spent most of his time in Colombia working on a pilot project to “End Malaria in Colombia” as well as a number of Global Grants and project.
Some of the recognition for his service includes the naming the first Major Surgical suite with his name and a street named for him in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
Ted is a recipient of the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service as well as being recognized with the highly coveted Rotary “Service Above Self” Award.
He is regular attendee at the Rotary International Conventions and has attended Rotary Foundation seminars and training sessions held in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America.
Ted and his wife Mary are Major Donors and Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation.
