Road to Zero Malaria

Rotarians Against Malaria Global (RAM-Global) recently provided a small grant to support a
project aimed at reducing the burden of malaria in Tanzania. The project was carried out by
the Rotaract Club of KCMC in collaboration with KCMUReC club members and SOHIC
members. The project titled ‘Road to Zero Malaria’, was implemented in TPC-Moshi and
Mwanga districts, which are located in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.

Malaria remains a major health challenge globally, with the WHO African region accounting
for 95% and 96% of cases and deaths globally, respectively. Tanzania is among the top ten
countries with the highest burden of malaria in Africa. In 2021, 3% of global cases and
4.1% of global deaths were reported in Tanzania. The project aimed to increase health
education, provide malaria screening, and facilitate the provision of malaria health education
materials to community health workers and village health committees in the project area.
